MarBorg offers flexible commercial waste collection services designed around the needs of your business. Whether you need a single cart or frequent service for multiple large containers, we can customize your container sizes, service frequency, and collection schedule.

Container Sizes & Service Options

Commercial customers can choose from a variety of container sizes:

  • Cans: 32-gallon cans for backyard service

  • Carts: 35, 64, and 96 gallons

  • Bins: 1.5, 2, 3, and 4 cubic yards

  • Roll-Offs & Compactors: Available for businesses that generate larger volumes of waste

Service is available one to six days per week, depending on your needs and location.

MarBorg can help determine the right combination of containers and pickup frequency to provide reliable service while avoiding unnecessary capacity.

Preparing for Collection

On your scheduled service day, please make sure our drivers have full access to your containers. Gates and enclosures should be unlocked and free of vehicles or other obstructions.

Depending on the location of your container, you may be required to move it from an enclosure or storage area to an accessible collection point. Please contact our office if you have questions about the requirements for your property.

Locks & Container Security

Bar-and-lock mechanisms are available for commercial bins to help prevent unauthorized use and illegal dumping. Please request this option when ordering your container.

Color-Coded Containers

MarBorg containers are color-coded based on the material they are intended to collect:

  • Beige: Trash

  • Green: Green waste

  • Blue: Recycling

Businesses may also be eligible to participate in our Food Scraps Composting Program.

Commercial Recycling Requirements

AB 341 — Mandatory Commercial Recycling

California's Mandatory Commercial Recycling law, AB 341 (Assembly Bill 341), went into effect on July 1, 2012.

The law requires qualifying businesses, including public entities, and multifamily residential properties with five or more units to arrange for recycling services. Additional recycling requirements may apply depending on the property's location and the amount and type of waste generated.

Purpose of AB 341

AB 341 was established to increase commercial recycling and reduce the amount of solid waste sent to California landfills. The law also supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and expand recycling services and recycling-related manufacturing throughout the state.

Business Recycling Options

Businesses subject to commercial recycling requirements may use one or a combination of methods to reuse, recycle, compost, or otherwise divert material from disposal, including:

  • Self-hauling recyclable materials

  • Subscribing to recycling collection through a waste hauler

  • Arranging for recyclable materials to be picked up

  • Using a recycling service that includes mixed-waste processing and achieves diversion comparable to source separation

Property owners of commercial businesses and multifamily residential properties may also require tenants to separate recyclable materials to assist with compliance.

Commercial Organics Recycling Requirements

AB 1826 — Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling

California adopted AB 1826 (Assembly Bill 1826) in 2014, with mandatory commercial organics recycling requirements beginning in 2016.

Organic waste includes food waste, green waste, landscape and pruning waste, nonhazardous wood waste, and food-soiled paper mixed with food waste.

AB 1826 was phased in based on the amount of waste generated by a business:

  • April 1, 2016: Businesses generating 8 cubic yards or more of organic waste per week were required to recycle organic waste.

  • January 1, 2017: Businesses generating 4 cubic yards or more of organic waste per week were required to recycle organic waste.

  • January 1, 2019: Businesses generating 4 cubic yards or more of solid waste per week became subject to organic waste recycling requirements.

Multifamily residential properties with five or more units were also included in the law's requirements.

Purpose of AB 1826

AB 1826 was designed to keep organic material out of California landfills by requiring progressively smaller generators to participate in organics recycling.

When organic material decomposes in a landfill, it generates methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Diverting food scraps, green waste, wood, and other organic materials helps reduce landfill disposal and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
