City of Santa Barbara Bulky Item Collection

City of Santa Barbara residential customers receive four (4) free bulky item collections each calendar year, with a limit of five (5) items per collection.

Who Is Eligible?

All residential customers within the City of Santa Barbara are eligible for this program.

Renters are eligible, too. You do not need to go through your property manager or landlord—you may schedule your collection directly with MarBorg.

How to Schedule

Call MarBorg Customer Service at (805) 963-1852 to schedule your collection.

Preparing Your Items

To ensure your collection goes smoothly:

  • Place all items at the curb by 6:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.

  • Items must come from the address where the collection is scheduled.

  • Loose materials must be bagged, boxed, or securely bundled.

  • Green waste must be bundled and tied. (Material from professional tree trimming services is not accepted.)

  • Please let us know when scheduling if any item is longer than 5 feet or weighs more than 60 pounds.

  • Only the items listed when you schedule your appointment will be collected. If your list changes, please contact Customer Service before your collection day.

Accepted Items

Typical household bulky items include:

  • Furniture

  • Mattresses

  • Appliances

  • Household goods

  • Other large residential items

Items Not Accepted

The following items are not eligible for free bulky item collection:

  • Construction or remodeling debris

  • Boats

  • Spas or hot tubs

  • Hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, liquids, batteries, etc.)

  • Waste generated by professional tree trimming services

Commercial Properties

Free bulky item collection is available only for residential customers.

Commercial customers who need to dispose of large items can schedule roll-off container service for a fee.
