Recycling Mission Statement

To make recycling as convenient as possible for customers, and to recycle as much as possible, in order to help our community meet state mandated waste diversion requirements and improve the quality of the local environment.

MarBorg Industries began recycling in Santa Barbara County long before recycling became a household word. MarBorg started recycling in 1936 and continues to provide the community with excellent recycling services. These services include the collection and recycling of numerous types of waste materials from both residential and commercial / industrial establishments. MarBorg plays a key role in helping Santa Barbara County meet the mandates of the California Integrated Waste Management Act. This law requires all cities and counties in the state to reduce the amount of waste being landfilled 50%. MarBorg's recycling efforts help to add 3 days of "life" to our local Tajiguas Landfill every month.

MarBorg provides unique recycling services for commercial and industrial clients. Clients can see a cost savings by choosing to practice on-site material separation themselves. If on-site separation does not fit within your space and time requirements, MarBorg will separate recyclable materials at its recycling facility. MarBorg recycles cardboard, wood waste, green waste, metals and inert materials (rock, asphalt, concrete, rubble and dirt).

Saturday: 7 am to 4 pm

Recycling Highlights

• MarBorg Industries is the largest single source of recycling in both the City and County of Santa Barbara.
• MarBorg Industries' recycling facility processes 500 tons of material per day.
• The California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 (AB 939) requires all municipalities to divert at least 50% of their waste from landfills. This law threatens fines of $10,000 per day for non- compliance with the 50% mandate.
• MarBorg Industries is currently recycling 70% of all the waste that we collect in the City and County of Santa Barbara.
